Summer in New York City | USA Travel Diary

Watch in 1080p HD!
I spent all of June 2018 soaking up summer in New York City. My third visit to the Big Apple included surprise concerts in the subway, pounding the pavement between Broadway shows, rowing boats in Central Park and sheltering in the shade of the West Village. To me, the city is never more exciting than in summer – the sun sparkles on skyscrapers, the nights are warm and the possibilities feel endless. (Sorry to tease you with delayed summer footage in the depths of winter now!)

  1. I just moved here in August and I love it so, so much. Videos like this only make me love it more! That said, be warned that July-September feels like a perma-sauna and, as someone with bangs, I look perpetually disheveled in the summer. I’m so glad you had a blast!

    • That is so exciting Lori, so glad you’re loving it! I’m contemplating a move myself 😄 There’s just something so intoxicating about the city so I keep coming back for more x

  2. Cool! Did I see a glimpse of Fire Island? And, how serendipitous to see Jimmy Fallon and Christina Aguilera!! 💫 And, a cameo?? 🤗 Of all the cities you’ve traveled, what are your top 3 favs? 🤔 Sorry for the 100 questions! 🙊 Thanks for another fun video! ❌⭕️’s

    • Thank you G! No I haven’t visited Fire Island, this was all filmed in Manhattan. I went to a taping of The Tonight Show and they told us about a ‘surprise performance’ the next day which ended up being those two busking in the subway, so not a compete coincidence! 😂 I love asking people that question too, but gosh I couldn’t pick a top 3… My top 5 would be London, NYC, Paris, Vancouver and Istanbul. But closer to home, I love Melbourne too! What about you? x

    • Thank you Holly! That’s why I love making travel videos – they can take you straight back to a moment and memory from a trip 😄☀️ x

  3. I was proposed to at Bow Bridge in Central Park and when I saw it in the video I was taken back to that moment 🥰

    • Ohh Farina that is wonderful! Such a beautiful place, what a lovely memory ☺️ You’ll see Bow Bridge in some more videos from New York on my channel this month x

  4. I live in nyc. Trust me it aren’t like this 😭 You found incredible angles and made it so nice.

    • Thank you so much Anily! I’m sure it can be a stressful and frustrating place to live at times, but I always try to see the beauty in a city 👍 x

  5. Your talent and creativity really impresses me. I would love to visit NY, I feel like I just got a true glimpse of it, I wonder if the volume of people would overwhelm me, I’m from little Adelaide too! Keep the videos coming and thank you for this ❤️

    • Thank you so much! Don’t worry – the hustle and bustle of Times Square does NOT represent the whole city. I don’t spend any time there apart from going to the theatre, because downtown is the heart of NYC for me! Much quieter and more soulful. I hope you get to visit one day! ❤️🍎 x

  6. “There’s nothing like summer in the city, someone in a rush next to someone looking pretty” This video reflects that lyric (from Hamilton) so well 🙂
You’re a pro tourist since you went to the Top of the Rock instead of the Empire state

    • Yes I love One World Trade too! Such a stunning view 👏🏼 Thanks for the tip about going at night! x

    • +Matilda You saw it 3 times??? I’m crying from jealousy.
Top of the Rock is great for a view of the WTC and Empire State, that’s true! Next time you want a great nighttime view, I highly recommend going to the top of the Rock on a themed day.The Empire State lights up with specific colors for holidays/special events (rather than the standard white lights), and seeing all the little lights flashing by on the streets below you is a beautiful sight! The observation deck of the Freedom tower is also great for clear days since you’re so high up and basically at the tip of manhattan

    • I honestly could not appreciate this comment more! 🙌🏼 I saw Hamilton three times this year, including in New York. OBsessed! And yes, love the Top of the Rock because you get Central Park views and Empire State IN your photos! x

  7. Do you have any solo travel tips? I want to travel one weekend every other month this year. But my husband sometimes works weekends so I can’t guarantee I’ll have a travel buddy

    • Ooh good question! Generally speaking, if it’s your first solo trip, I’d suggest starting small and just doing a weekend away or even a day out in your own city if you usually don’t spend ANY time by yourself. It’s definitely not for everyone (I have friends who don’t know how I spend months by myself because they can’t last two days) but I love the peace and freedom of it. If you need company, you could always join tours or activities that will help you buddy up with people. But I luckily never experience loneliness when travelling solo – when there’s so much to discover, great people-watching and sights to capture through my camera, I never feel alone ☺️ x
